Job ref: S/46/25 Job type: Permanent Location: Loughanhill Depot Salary: PO4 (SCP 37-40) £46,731 - £49,764 per annum Quantity of Posts Available: One Closing date: Monday 07 Jul 2025 16:00 Job summary Hold and have overall responsibility for the Council's Operators Licence and ensure that the Council adheres to the requirements of the licence and relevant legislation and be the responsible person for the purposes of making application and providing any necessary undertakings and/or declarations on behalf of the Councils fleet in respect of licensing under the Goods Vehicle (Licensing Operations) Act 1995 or subsequent legislation. To be responsible for continuous and effective delivery of the Fleet Management function including Councils representative with the regulating authorities and ensure quality standards are maintained. Prepare and manage the fleet department budget including forecasting, monitoring expenditure, advising on capital expenditure and maintenance requirements. Develop, maintain and manage a fleet and plant replacement programme including procurement and hire, such as preparing specifications and evaluation of tenders/quotations. Provide a comprehensive range of technical expertise on policy and related issues including whole life costs, resource analysis and new technologies. Devise systems and strategies for optimal fleet/plant requirements and use. Where relevant in co-operation with the Health and Safety Officer implement and manage an effective health and safety regime to ensure that Council maintains the safest working environments for our staff and public.
