Job overview

We are looking for motivated and versatile team players to join our Band 6 Physiotherapy General Rotations scheme.

The Royal London Hospital inpatient therapies team delivers care to patients across a range of diverse specialities. Rotations include AAU/ED, Older People’s services, Surgery (Vascular and amputees, mixed surgical specialities), Stroke Services, Specialist Medicine (Respiratory, Renal etc), Neurotrauma (Neuro, Ortho-trauma/plastics), Adult Intensive Care, Paediatrics (Respiratory), and additional speciality rotations of Oncology at St Bartholomew’s and Primary Care Musculoskeletal Outpatients at Mile End Hospital.

The role is full-time and includes participation in the Respiratory On-Call Rota (Adults/Paeds) and weekend working. The ideal candidate will have a passion for a fast paced environment; excellent communication skills and plenty of enthusiasm.

Main duties of the job

To assist and contribute to organising, developing and delivering a high quality physiotherapy service provided to a wide variety of in-patients. Rotations are nine monthly and currently include:

RLH: AAU/ED, Older People’s services, Surgery (Vascular and amputees, Mixed surgical specialities), Stroke services, Specialist Medicine (Respiratory, Renal, Cardiology, Infectious diseases etc), Neurotrauma (Acute Neurosciences, Major Trauma / Ortho-plastics), Adult Critical Care, Paediatrics (Respiratory)

MEH: Primary Care Musculoskeletal Outpatients

SBH: Oncology (Haematology, Endocrinology, Prehabilitation)

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. •Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
2. •HCPC Registration

Desirable criteria

3. •Member of CSP
4. •Member of a relevant Special Interest Group
5. •Post graduate courses relevant to clinical field

Experience

Essential criteria

6. •Broad variety of post graduate experience including respiratory, neurosciences, orthopaedics, and musculoskeletal
7. •Experience of working in an acute hospital
8. •Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
9. •Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff and/or students or assistants

Desirable criteria

10. •Experience working in acute neurosurgery and/or major trauma
11. •Experience in Critical care
12. •Acute NHS experience

Skills

Essential criteria

13. •Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
14. •Problem solving skills
15. •Ability to meet the physical demands of the job on a day to day basis
16. •Effective computer/IT skills
17. •Ability to deal with challenging situations
18. •An understanding of clinical governance

Desirable criteria

19. •Evidence of participation in audit/research/data collection
20. •Evidence of extra departmental duties/roles
