JOB TITLE: Head of Engineering – Individual Customer Savings Lab
SALARY: £124,653 - £146,650
LOCATION: Leeds or Bristol
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Leeds or Bristol office location.
About this Opportunity
Are you looking for a technology focused leadership role which will enable you to drive tech collaboration; input and advise the strategic vision and direction for the Individual Customer Savings Lab whilst inspiring our engineering teams to be creative, innovative, and empowered to reach their full potential?
The purpose of the Head of Engineering is to work with the Lab Product Owner to provide effectively leadership and management of the teams in their Lab. Specifically, this requires setting the vision, mobilisation of the teams required to deliver it and ensuring effective delivery execution. With the Lab PO they are also responsible for all operational management activities including workforce plans, risk and issue mitigation and cost management. There is a particular focus on the ways of working and overall engineering experience, where the Engineering Lead is responsible for creating the right environment for effective delivery which will include the identification of blockers and action plans to remove them.
You will:
1. Drive the highest standard of technology and engineering delivery across the Lab and Investment Platform.
2. Jointly assume the ownership, development, and accountability of Lab strategic and quarterly OKRs, and are incentivised against a balanced set of business and technology outcomes.
3. Optimise, evolve, and deliver an efficient operating model.
4. Support shaping of the backlog and prioritising outcomes which are essential to keep the solution / product in good health.
5. Create an organisation that is truly data driven and providing the best value propositions to our customers.
6. Define the What and Why the team deliver, and how through a combination of engineering solutions and changes to our ways of working i.e. agile and instrumentation.

8. A passion for team development; allowing colleagues to develop in different/new technologies and mature in ways of working, resulting in a successful team.
9. Extensive experience and technical engineering knowledge and implementation of a broad range of platforms, including public cloud.
10. Are technology agnostic and willing to adapt your approach in pursuit of the best solution; enables via an excellent knowledge and understanding of multiple engineering & software design solutions.
11. Experienced in providing Software Engineering leadership, oversight, technical and people leadership across multiple teams.
12. Successful in building high performing mission driven cultures.
13. You will inspire delivery whilst encouraging simplicity and developing confidence & trust.
14. Have extensive experience in hands on Software Engineering, Test Driven Development, Event Driven and/or Cloud Native Architectures.
15. Experienced in full stack development with demonstrable knowledge in React, Microservices, APIs, Databases and Observability.
