Overview
Operates GIBBS computer programming to generate CNC programs used to control CNC machine tools that drill, mill, bore, etc.
Responsibilities
* Analyzes drawings and specifications to determine program input data such as hole sizes, tool sizes, reference points, direction of machine cutting paths.
* Calculates data such as starting point coordinates, size of fixture panels and number of fixtures per fixture panel.
* Using 3D models extracts part geometry to create tool paths as well as tool speeds and feeds using GIBBS CAM and manually programs on the machine.
* Keys in additional instructions such as tool size, machine feed and speed rates, starting point coordinates.
* Names the program using part number when possible.
* Sets up machines, cuts fixtures when necessary and produces the first part to verify program performance and correct dimensions.
* Submits the first article to Quality Control and makes adjustments when necessary from the CMM report.
* Runs and completes the entire production job when necessary.
* Ensures all programs and fixtures are error‑free so that a CNC operator can run the parts.
* Develops setup blueprints with instructions for future CNC operators.
Qualifications
Location: Lancaster, PA

* Ability to write routine reports and instructions.
* Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers and other employees.
* Ability to calculate geometry including angles, bolt circles, circle arcs, speeds and feeds; ability to work in metrics and transfer to decimal equivalents.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
