Organisation Derbyshire County Cricket Club Salary Salary appropriate for the role Location Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derby Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 22 January 2026 Interview date 29 January 2026 Job Description We have a fantastic opportunity for someone with a graduate sports science qualification to join our Academy team on a full-time basis as the Strength and Conditioning Coach.
The role is primarily to drive a world class strength and conditioning environment for the Academy and early engagement programme (EPP) under the supervision of the Lead S&C Coach and to provide high quality athletic development to the talent pathways.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Winter:
•Manage and deliver the individualized S&C provision for the DCCC Academy and EPP.
•Manage and deliver the S&C provision for the DCCC Talent Pathway (U13-U18).
•Provide nutritional guidance and advice to all Derbyshire CCC professional and Academy players.
•Assist in delivery of profiling of all Derbyshire CCC professional and Academy squads.
•Assist in managing and developing S&C placement students.
•Maintain healthy working relationships, via in person and telephone contact with schools, parents and players of the Academy and EPP.
•Liaise closely with the Lead S&C coach and Lead Physio and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions.
•Assist with Professional Staff duties when required.
Summer:
•Provide match-day support to all Derbyshire CCC 2nd XI games in collaboration with Assistant Physio and 2nd XI coach.
•Provide, where possible, match day support to Academy and EPP players.
•Support and facilitate final phase rehabilitation of DCCC pro staff and Academy players alongside club physiotherapists.
•Manage and continue to deliver the S&C provision for the DCCC Academy and EPP.
•Coordinate the S&C provision for the DCCC Talent Pathway (U13-U18).
•Continue to provide nutritional guidance and advice to all Derbyshire CCC players.
•Assist in managing and developing S&C placement students.
•Liaise closely with the Lead S&C coach and Lead Physio and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
Essential
•Graduate qualification in Sports Science.
•S&C UKSCA accreditation / or ability to work towards within 12 months.
•Experience within a sporting environment and in the support and preparation of developing senior and junior athletes.
•Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary support team.
•Comprehensive CPD Portfolio with a professional sports medicine / S&C bias.
•Adept in the use of Microsoft Excel, electronic medical databases, and performance software.
Desirable
•A Post-graduate degree in sports science/S+C or related field.
•Experience working with elite athletes and a performance team environment.
•Experience working within cricket.
•A valid sports first aid certificate of basic life support and first aid qualification.
•ISAK Level 1.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS accreditation.
The role includes regular UK travel during and outside of the County season and may include an overseas touring commitment once a year.
