Overview

Senior School Premises Manager – Facilities Manager, Bedfordshire. Based in or around the Bedfordshire area with the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.


What you will be doing

* Responsible for opening and closing the school and checking buildings and grounds at start of day to ensure availability and report faults needing urgent attention.
* Locking and securing all doors, windows and perimeter gates at the end of each day and activating/deactivating alarm systems.
* Check heating, lighting and domestic hot water are functional and available as required.
* Make safe areas of danger and deal with minor repairs as needed.
* Liaise with contractors on site regarding safety, materials, plant, etc.
* Monitor cleaning work and liaise with cleaning contractors regarding rectification work.
* Keep outdoor areas, paths, steps and drains clean and litter-free; empty outside bins.
* Clear pathways and stairs of snow and apply grit/salt as required.
* Carry out general portering duties including movement and delivery of goods.
* Report events/tasks to Help Desk and follow through to completion.
* Carry out general repairs and maintenance including first-fix responses as required.
* Carry out minor Health and Safety checks (Fire Systems, Emergency Lighting, Fire Appliances, Water Systems) and complete associated paperwork.
* Provide cover for third-party lettings outside core hours, including weekends as required.
* liaise with school business manager, teaching staff and other client representatives; work to agreed shift patterns to ensure service delivery; carry out site inductions for contractors and ensure compliance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements and permits.
* Provide cover for other School Premises Managers within the project during sickness/holiday periods as directed; participate in training of new employees; respond to out-of-hours emergencies as part of a nominated contact list.


About You

* Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word.
* Previous experience in a similar facilities management role within a school setting.
* A trade qualification such as CSCS would be advantageous.
* IOSH or NEBOSH is desirable.
* First Aid at Work would be advantageous.
