Primary Purpose of the Role
To support the Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) and the bid/project team in designing, developing, and delivering complex underwater sensor systems on time and within budget using sound systems engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks
* Convert requirements into conceptual designs and prepare associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations, and technical trade‑off studies.
* Maintain a good understanding of the systems development lifecycle and lifecycle products.
* Write and execute Test Specifications, including test plans, strategy documents, and test specifications derived from system requirements.
* Execute test specifications according to the test plan and project schedule, record results, raise, investigate, and verify defects, and maintain quality targets.
* Create outline designs from requirements, modify existing concepts, and produce new concepts to fulfil emerging needs.
* Prepare system and subsystem requirement specifications, interface requirements, and test requirement documents by analysing, decomposing, modelling, and refining customer requirements.
* Perform technical/engineering tasks to define system design and subsystem requirement details; analyse and simulate to identify feasibility and drive requirements.
* Report work progress and estimates accurately to line manager against work packages.
* Investigate problems in the field or with system documentation.
* Develop, implement, and maintain relevant tools for the Systems Engineering function, and assess new tools for continuous improvement.
* Keep abreast of technical development both within and outside the company.
* Produce quality metrics to measure the soundness of Systems Engineering and support EDM in progress reporting.
* Work with project planners to provide detailed input to specific project programs.
* Represent Systems Engineering at formal Design Reviews, focusing on design risk reduction.
* Participate in professional growth through regular check‑ins and development discussions with line manager.

* Experienced with Systems Engineering tools (DOORS, Polarion, MBSE, etc.).
* Understands configuration management of a system.
* Has worked on development projects guided by a defined process.
* Can produce metrics as part of Quality Control.
* Working knowledge of project plans.
* Knowledge of Engineering Safety Management.
Experience
The Systems Engineer must be a technical focal point for the Systems Engineering process and resolve all issues, problems, questions, and conflicts in the entire system. A proven record of working in a Systems Engineering environment is required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in spoken and written word are essential. Enthusiasm, self‑motivation, and the ability to work under pressure are vital.

Desirable Qualifications and Certification
* HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
Essential
* Must be eligible for SC clearance and sole UK National (UK Eyes Only programme).
* Must have attained or be working toward an appropriate professional status (CEng) or equivalent.
