Role Overview
The post holder will be responsible for providing effective Electrical & Engineering Estates Management services to the Birmingham Community Health Care portfolio. The Trust must operate within all relevant regulatory, advisory, compliance, financial and service delivery frameworks. The post holder will coordinate the day-to-day planning and delivery of Electrical and Mechanical operational and maintenance functions, mainly for engineering, services and buildings. They will manage the in‑house maintenance team, specialist contractors and service providers. While the primary task is Electrical work, a flexible approach to mechanical and building maintenance is required. Electrical expert knowledge on Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) installations will be essential.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert building service knowledge such as heat pumps and solar power.
* Ensure the Trust complies with statutory and regulatory estates requirements.
* Provide Electrical and Engineering technical advice covering a range of engineering and building services.
* Develop good practices in Health and Safety, including risk assessment, safe work procedures, staff competencies and HTM-compliant permits to work.
* Support the Head of Estates, Estates and Compliance Manager and wider department in strategic planning and resource identification.
* Act as HTM authorised person for key services – Electrical low-voltage systems 06-02, high-voltage systems 06-03 and be fully conversant with HTM 06-01.
* Collaborate closely with the Authorising Engineers for HV-LV works to ensure compliance with HTM 06-02 and 06-03.
Be familiar with all other Healthcare technical memorandum guidance documents such as medical gases, ventilation, water safety, pressure systems and decontamination services. While the primary task is Electrical work, the post holder must have a flexible approach to a range of mechanical maintenance service operations.
