MET Technician
Overview of this job: To ensure the highest standard of repairs are carried out to the manufacturer's specifications, specifically relating to fitting and trimming.
Customer focus: To ensure all work is completed to the customer's satisfaction and strive to exceed their expectations.

* Right first time (rectification amounts)
* Quality of repair inspection
Specific tasks: This job holder must be able to:
* Receive vehicle, job card & Quality Control (QC) forms and check quality of repairs, taking remedial action if necessary.
* Ensure that QC form has been completed by Technician who previously worked on vehicle and Senior Technician has countersigned when applicable.
* Ensure repair methods are attached or available for each repair (high importance).
* If no methods available, research, write, and sign a repair method.
* Ensure that vehicle internal car care kit is fitted (seat covers, steering wheel cover, and floor mat) to prevent dust transfer.
* Collect parts from the parts department when required and ensure they match the job card and are complete for the job described.
* Inform workshop controller if a part is required.
* Strip vehicle as per the job card instructions, label trolley and rack with job number and registration number to enable the panel beater to commence work.
* Strip vehicle when requested to facilitate detailed estimates to meet work provider service level agreements.
* Refit existing parts and new parts to the vehicle once painting and panel beating have been completed.
* Fill out and place supplementary forms for additional parts required, seeking authorization.
* Document any other vehicle damage noted during repairs and seek guidance if necessary.
* Carry out basic mechanical duties such as removing and replacing components.
* Carry out final checks on the vehicle after repair in line with quality control checklist attached to job card, ticking appropriate sections and signing off.
* Review another Technician's work and sign the quality of work for vehicle progression.
* Ensure final check sheet and job card leave the department with the vehicle.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and materials.
* Participate in measurement and feedback processes, complete personnel documentation, and engage in training and development.
* Support team members to achieve objectives when asked or required.
* Perform any Bodyshop related duties.
Knowledge and skills required: The job holder must have knowledge of:
* Automotive systems, basic vehicle layout, function, and parts location.
* Parts requirements and communication via repair orders.
* Procedures for replacing components.
* Quality control and inspection requirements of the Bodyshop department.
* Manufacturer products, technical bulletins, training courses, and magazines.
* Best practices in body repair and mechanical sequences.
* Vehicle legislation and trade practices.
* Manufacturer standards and objectives, including health and safety procedures.
* Tools and maintenance procedures.
* Vehicle problems, warranties, services, and repairs.
* Company organizational structure.
And be able to:
* Work positively with other technicians and personnel.
* Interpret and adopt vehicle legislation and trade practices.
* Work independently and in a team, manage own time.
* Work in a busy environment.
* Demonstrate professionalism and enthusiasm.
