About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated mental health team at HMP Askham Grange. HMP Askham Grange is an open category D female prison based in Askham Richard, near York, housing around 120 women. You will be joining an established and experienced team, supporting women aged 18 plus, the site also includes a mother and baby unit. This role has a low volume of patients requiring Psychiatrist support which will enable you to provide consistent and high quality patient care.
Hours
1 day per month / 8 hours to be worked between Monday‑Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm.
Salary
This position is a part‑time role; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £196,736 per annum FTE, depending on experience.
Legal Requirements
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

* You will be part of a team of 20 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
* You will be able to attend monthly Consultant’s meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.

Responsibilities
* Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite.
* Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
* Work within the multi‑disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in complex multi‑professional case reviews.

Qualifications Required
* Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
* Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
* Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983.
* Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
* Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD.
* Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
