Engineering Technician – Baggage
From £41,130 + Shift Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

Are you our next Engineering Technician – Baggage? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for our Engineering department.
The Engineering team delivers what matters. They protect, maintain, and repair our infrastructure, including electricity, heating and cooling systems, and specialist equipment on the airfield.
Role: To conduct planned and reactionary maintenance and intervention tasks on all plant and equipment involved in the baggage systems at Gatwick Airport, ensuring high standards and maximum operational uptime. This shift-based role includes night and weekend work.
Responsibilities:
* Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance, focusing on asset performance and operational needs.
* Maintain accurate engineering and operational records.
* Support performance improvement activities.
* Ensure safety protocols, including PPE, mandatory training, and incident reporting.
* Use GAL IT systems (Ultimo, MyHub, P2W, Microsoft Office).
* Develop skills to maintain and operate assets effectively.
* Complete required training.
* Work in passenger-facing and back-of-house areas across the airport.
* Collaborate with team members; no direct reports.
Qualifications:
* Advanced Modern Apprenticeship (Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic) or equivalent.
* Core skills in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (at least Level 3/ONC).
* Technical maintenance experience.
* Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
* Knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines.
* Experience in system performance improvements.
* Knowledge of 17th Edition IEE wiring regulations.
* Driving license.
Interview Process:
1. 30-minute virtual discussion with the hiring manager.
2. 1-hour technical assessment with Hiring Manager and Engineering Leader.
