The Vacancy
The Trustees and Head Teacher of the school wish to appoint an exceptional and compassionate teacher-leader to become Head of The Haven, our 16-place SEND Unit, and to shape and drive its next phase of development. This is a unique opportunity to lead a specialist provision within a mainstream primary school, ensuring outstanding outcomes for pupils with profound and complex needs.

Lever Edge Primary Academy is a large two form entry primary school, with two nurseries a sports hall, a SEND unit and a forest school.
The Person required for the post
The post is suitable for a teacher who:
-Has strong experience working with children with profound and complex needs
-Brings the credibility, organisation and warmth to lead a specialist team.
-Has knowledge/understanding (and ideally experience) of the EHCP process, including annual reviews and writing robust support plans.
The role will involve
-Strategic leadership and day-to-day management of The Haven, including provision design, routines, staffing and development planning.
-Oversight of EHCPs, including annual reviews, support planning, and ensuring provision matches pupils’ needs and outcomes.
-Working closely with visiting professionals and external agencies to coordinate multi-agency support.
-Close collaboration with the mainstream school SENCo to ensure strong inclusion pathways and consistent practice across settings.
-Some teaching within The Haven, modelling high-quality specialist practice and supporting staff development.
