Job Duties

Accounting Leadership & Operations

1. Leads and manages all university accounting operations, including:
2. General ledger
3. Cash management
4. Revenue and expenditure accounting
5. Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
6. Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all financial reporting

Financial Compliance & Controls

7. Maintains and enforces internal control systems, risk management protocols, and fraud prevention measures
8. Ensures compliance with :GASB, FASB, ARMICS
9. Federal and state regulations
10. Leads audit preparation and serve as primary liaison with external auditors

Execution of Financial Strategy

11. Implements financial policies, procedures, and systems aligned with AVP direction
12. Supports institutional financial strategy through accurate reporting and operational execution
13. Provides financial analysis and insights to support decision-making

Grants, Assets & Regulatory Oversight

Oversee:

14. Grants and contracts accounting
15. Fixed assets management
16. Cost accounting functions

Ensures compliance with all funding and regulatory requirements

Leadership & Team Management

17. Supervises and develops accounting staff
18. Build a high-performing team focused on accuracy, accountability, and efficiency
19. Drives continuous improvement in accounting operations


Process Improvement & Systems

20. Leads implementation and optimization of financial systems
21. Improves accounting workflows, reporting processes, and data integrity
22. Supports enterprise system upgrades and integrations

Minimum Qualifications

23. Knowledge and expertise in accounting and financial management operations through participation in professional organizations.
24. Maintain positive working relationships with the university community and external financial reporting agencies.
25. Ability to perform detailed work independently, as well as, in a team environment.
26. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a diverse group of professionals.
27. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
28. Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
29. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
30. Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels of the organization.


Additional Considerations

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate myriad items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

31. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
32. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
33. A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview
