Role and responsibilities
* Senior Environmental Crime Officer in the National Investigations Team. Lead investigations into the most serious and complex environmental crimes, coordinating and overseeing all aspects of investigations from identifying lines of enquiry to casefile preparation and prosecution.
* Work alongside Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive cases forward, reviewing intelligence, raising and allocating actions, coordinating evidence gathering and interviews.
* Coordinate investigations involving Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports and large-scale fraud; lead, drive and develop investigative teams and complex investigations where desirable.
* Lead, develop and progress investigations in the National Environmental Crime Unit within the National Regulation and Monitoring Team, and contribute to developing the team.
Experience and skills required
* High level of attention to detail, hard-working, self-motivated with a strong investigative background.
* In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation such as PACE and CPIA; excellent verbal and written communication; basic IT competency (Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams).
* Knowledge of environmental crime, leading serious criminal investigations, and workings of a Major Incident Room preferred.
* Experience in building and developing investigation teams; ability to drive and initiate solutions.
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting within 6 months and a full driving licence is required.
Working arrangements and requirements
* Hybrid working role; flexible work location from home and nearest Environment Agency Office; frequent travel for meetings and operational duties.
* Responding to incidents is a central part of the role; ability to take on an incident role and provide business continuity support; incident duties may carry additional payment and training/workplace adjustments provided.
