Field Support Engineer – Thales UK
Location: Cheadle, United Kingdom.
Overview
The Principal Field Services Engineer will supervise and support the deployment, operations and maintenance of Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems on Royal Navy and export customers’ ships and submarines.
Responsibilities
* Supervise front‑line support activities, including fault diagnosis, testing, and acceptance trials in harbour and at sea.
* Provide on‑call telephone support and write site visit reports.
* Conduct Pre‑Upkeep Maintenance Assessment inspections and scheduled maintenance activities.
* Advise the Service Delivery Manager on required stores for refits, and write post‑maintenance reports.
* Prepare weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager/Field Services Manager summarising activities, upcoming tasks, and any required support.
* Ensure compliance with export control rules and ITAR.
* Perform additional ad‑hoc duties as required.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably with complex systems (electrical, electronic, hydraulic).
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to lead teams through technical issues.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* High self‑motivation and ability to work under pressure.
* Full Security Clearance (SC) required; candidates must provide evidence of baseline security clearance.
