Overview
Infrastructure and Cloud Specialist – Cheltenham, UK (Hybrid working).
Role: Group IT Cloud & Infrastructure Specialist reporting to the Infrastructure & Cloud Manager. This is a technical specialist role with no direct reports, but with significant influence across Group IT teams. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, driving innovation, defining standards, and supporting cloud adoption while maintaining compliance with industry best practices.
Responsibilities
* Design, deploy, and maintain hybrid infrastructure solutions with a focus on performance, cost-efficiency, and security.
* Lead technology exploitation initiatives to support business transformation and integration.
* Identify and document risks, issues, and critical success factors.
* Promote and maintain design standards and development methodologies.
* Create control patterns, conduct risk evaluations, and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
* Provide specialist design support for Microsoft services and estimate costs for IT solutions.
* Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimise reliability.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with business goals.
* Participate in audits, risk reviews, and change control processes.
* Support out-of-hours operations as part of the on-call rota.
Qualifications
* Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, particularly IaaS and PaaS infrastructure solutions.
* Experience with networking, virtualization, server management, and operating systems.
* Proven ability to lead large cloud engagements, including infrastructure migration and application modernisation.
* Demonstrable experience with Entra ID and IDAM practices.
* Familiarity with Azure IAC and FINOPS is preferred.
* Holding or working towards Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
* Experience as a trusted advisor influencing cloud and infrastructure adoption.
* Strategic business acumen and the ability to align IT solutions with organisational goals.
* Effective communication skills, including working with board-level stakeholders.
