Overall Purpose of the Role:
Aptus is seeking a fully qualified and experienced Lighting Designer based at our Head Office in Bolton to complement our existing design and installation teams. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in lighting design and be capable of undertaking designs for various schemes, including private lighting projects, new S38 developments, or highway lighting renewal/removal for local authorities.
What you will be doing:
* Liaise with developers to determine the full scope of works and produce quotations based on requirements.
* Design using Lighting Reality, DIALux, Relux, and AutoCAD.
* Prepare cable calculations and schematic diagrams using Amtech or similar software.
* Coordinate with Local Authorities for lighting assessments and design approvals.
* Understand DNO & IDNO LV networks to determine supplies to columns.
* Provide guidance to clients regarding existing lighting issues.
What we ask from you:
* ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma (modules 1-4).
* Proficient with BS:5489 Road Lighting Code of Practice.
* Experience with lighting contracts.
* Ability to interpret working drawings and requirements.
* Provide quotations for design services.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Flexible working hours and availability.
* Proficient in AutoCAD & Microsoft Office.
* Full driving license for site visits.
* BS7671 18th Edition wiring regulations (preferred).
* Ability to visually identify lanterns and components.
* Experience with Lighting Reality – Best Practice & Advanced.
* Knowledge of G39 – Working near DNO equipment.
* Current ILP Membership.

This role is full-time, 40 hours per week, and permanent.
