Smart Teachers are working in partnership with a large, high-achieving secondary school in Outer London to appoint a talented and ambitious Deputy Head of English .
About the role
The Deputy Head of English will play a key role in supporting the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the department, helping to secure high standards of teaching, learning and achievement across KS3–KS5.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting curriculum development and ensuring consistency across key stages
* Driving high-quality teaching and learning
* Using assessment data effectively to raise attainment and close gaps
* Coaching and developing colleagues within the department
* Contributing to whole-school priorities and improvement planning
You will work closely with the Head of English to maintain a culture of high expectations, academic excellence and strong outcomes for all students

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Deputy Head of English you will:
* Qualified Teacher Status
* A strong track record of successful secondary English teaching
* Experience contributing to curriculum planning and raising attainment
* The ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues
* A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
* Suitable teaching experience
