A long-established manufacturing and installation business specialising in automated conveyor and machinery systems is looking for a Control Systems Programmer to replace a recently departed team member. The company designs, manufactures, and installs bespoke control panels and automated solutions for FMCG/food production clients. This role works closely with the in-house Electrical Design Engineer to develop, program, test, and commission control systems—predominantly for Siemens and Mitsubishi PLC platforms, with some Allen-Bradley exposure. You’ll also support the installation and commissioning phase on customer sites, working alongside electricians to bring systems online, troubleshoot issues, and ensure full operational functionality. Job Responsibilities: * Develop and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (primarily Siemens & Mitsubishi; some Allen-Bradley). * Collaborate with the electrical panel designer to ensure control solutions meet specification. * Support control panel build process and provide input during design and manufacturing stages. * Carry out on-site commissioning of new equipment and systems once installed. * Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and corrective work on customer sites. * Work with customers in FMCG/food manufacturing environments to ensure smooth project delivery. * Travel to sites across the UK as needed. Experience required: * Strong PLC programming experience, ideally Siemens (TIA Portal) and/or Mitsubishi. * Exposure to Allen-Bradley desirable. * Experience commissioning automated machinery or production equipment. * Ability to travel frequently and work on customer sites. * Background in FMCG or similar fast-paced industrial environments beneficial. * Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach
