Advert Deputy Nursery Manager/Nursery Nurse (Fixed Term) Wallace Hall Primary School Deputy Nursery Manager (7/07347) - £11,291.58 - £12,120.52 Nursery Nurse (7/07348) - £17,625.21 - £18,802.48 We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dedicated, enthusiastic and highly motivated Deputy Nursery Manager/Nursery Nurse. You will be responsible for supporting the Nursery Manager in leading and managing the day-to-day operation of the nursery, ensuring that all children are provided with the highest quality early learning and childcare. The successful applicant will have 12.5 hours as a Deputy Nursery Manager and 23.5 hours as a Nursery Nurse. You will work over 39 weeks per year. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post. Candidates should have a passion for working in early years and have experience, knowledge and understanding of learning through play. Knowledge and understanding of current documentation, in particular Realising the Ambition, Curriculum for Excellence – Early Level, My World Outdoors and Funding Follows the Child and the National Standard for Early Learning and Childcare providers, would be advantageous. You will be supported to inspire the learning of the children in our setting. You are required to hold a qualification in Social Services, Children & Young People at SCQF Level 7, or an HNC in Childhood Practice at Level 7 (or equivalent). Preferred candidate must commit to gaining BA Childhood Practice or equivalent within first registration period with SSSC as Manager/Lead. As Nursery Nurse you must be energetic and innovative, have the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with adults and children and be committed to further learning and development of your own practice to improve the educational experience for all children. The post requires the successful applicant to be able to work in a variety of contexts and consequently a flexible attitude and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team are essential characteristics. ‘Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Nursery settings may operate between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm and employee working patterns will be required to meet the needs of the service’. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
