Salary: £39,129 - £46,023
Hours: 36 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NE Mental Health and Substance Use team. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Social Worker. The main aim is to support and achieve positive outcomes with individuals experiencing issues related to addiction or poor mental health. The post holder will work in partnership with various internal and external agencies and undertake a wide range of statutory and non-statutory social work tasks, including assessing and managing risk. The role involves working as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team with regular supervision, training, and support.
Experience and qualifications required:
* Professional social work qualification (e.g., BA, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent)
* Experience supporting people with challenging and complex needs, ideally with a focus on mental health and substance use
* Experience working within a statutory social work setting is preferred
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate:
* A trauma-informed approach to social work practice
* An ability to effectively assess and manage risk
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with service users and professionals
* An understanding of Social Work, Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity, and Mental Health legislative frameworks
* An awareness of recovery-based models for those impacted by mental health and addiction issues

This post involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check. Candidates who have spent 3 or more months outside the UK in the last 5 years will require an Overseas Criminal Record Check. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.

The salary range reflects the starting salary, with annual increases until the top of the range is reached. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
