Overview
Using an evidence based approach, assess, diagnose, treat or refer patients with minor injuries and illnesses as an autonomous practitioner, including prescribing where necessary. Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure seamless service delivery for patients. Plan own workload effectively while remaining aware of departmental needs and adjusting working patterns accordingly. Act as a role model and expert resource, developing nursing roles to support service development and evolving models of care. Lead with compassion and uphold trust values. Promote dynamic, efficient, innovative care that responds to population needs. Champion the minor injury team by liaising with Emergency Department colleagues to provide an exceptional minor injury service with clear communication, care and continuity.
Act as a role model for infection control practice, nutritional standards, medicines management and falls prevention, ensuring best practice is intrinsic to care delivery. Regularly participate in clinical supervision and provide clinical supervision to junior staff.

Responsibilities
* Provide advanced knowledge and comprehensive assessment based on specialist knowledge.
* Assess, examine, investigate, diagnose and treat patients, ensuring safe management with appropriate referrals or discharge for undifferentiated presentations.
* Identify the need for and interpret diagnostic tests, including point-of-care testing and radiography where appropriate.
* Undertake advanced physical assessment and non-medical prescribing in line with Trust policy to meet clinical needs.
* Ensure patients are informed and give consent prior to treatment, investigation, examination and management as appropriate.
* Maintain a proactive approach to patient care in line with evidence-based practice and service development.
Qualifications and requirements
* Autonomous practitioner delivering minor injury/illness care with prescribing where necessary.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and promote high standards of care.
* Experience of leading and supervising junior staff and contributing to clinical governance.
* Commitment to infection control, nutritional standards, medicines management and falls prevention.
