The National HSE Manager (projects and engineering services) will report directly to the National Director of Health, Safety & The Environment. The role is predominantly home based with required travel to office and sites. The post holder reports to the relevant Head of Business Unit. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working alongside project delivery in live working environments and a good knowledge of construction working practices. There will be a requirement for a competent environmental manager to ensure sound environmental practices such as waste management control and the development of an effective environmental aspects and impacts register that can be used on all sites.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Provide professional support to the projects/engineering side with a good understanding of CDM2015, inspections, and collating comprehensive reports for the leadership team for board level reporting.
* Environmental management and reporting on the aspects and impact registers and building an environmental management system. Practical experience of all aspects of environmental legislation and requirements is essential.
* Drive improvements and best practice in safety, health and environmental issues across the Integral Group, including bespoke training and behavioural safety initiatives.
* Ensure the Integral H&S Culture remains positive and pro‑active, analyse statistics, develop sector plans to reduce TRIR and DART, and align targets with company and JLL objectives.
* Carry out site safety audits across business units, ensuring all H&S standards are adhered to. Develop a remote audit/inspection methodology.
* Monitor completion of mandatory and core training, providing bespoke training as required.
* Support business unit teams and drive safety forward in the sector.
* Identify and control key operational risks, including whole‑building risk areas.
* Apply the “One team” approach, ensuring actions and behaviours support the HS&E one team approach and communicate effectively at all levels.
* Work with the Procurement team to ensure subcontractors meet safety and environmental KPIs.
* Collaborate with the National Director of HS&E on sustainability and safety plans; lead client liaison when directed.
* Interpret new HSE legislation and prepare processes with the national HS&E team.
* Assist HSE team members in identifying additional standards for occupational health needs.
* Administer Integral reporting of accidents, occupational ill‑health, and dangerous occurrence systems, ensuring investigations are completed.
* Prepare information for management and board reports.
* Complete safety and environmental projects as identified by Head of HS&E and National Director of HS&E.
* Promote ownership of safety and environmental issues with supervisory and management teams.
Essential Qualifications And Skills
* Member of IOSH or equivalent (working to Chartered)
* NEBOSH – General or Construction certification or equivalent
* IEMA qualification in Environmental management
* Engineering/project background
* Accident/Incident investigation trained (root cause analysis)
* Strong knowledge of key H&S legislation, particularly CDM
* Good communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
* Clean driving licence
* Internal auditing of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001
