This role is pivotal to future development and transformation of the support and training development we provide to our PTs at WXH. You will lead in providing & developing training programmes & competencies for PTs, supporting them in joint clinical sessions, career conversations and skills development.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will work across the acute Physiotherapy (PT) teams in WCH to support the continuous professional development, education and progression of PT staff. They will identify learning needs, plan and implement any training required and continuously evaluate staff competence ensuring that development is aligned to and informs local and national priorities.

The practice development PT will to drive developments in PT practice to improve safe patient care, support education, training and development strategies through the delivery of relevant programmes across the hospital, support induction, preceptorship and guidance for individuals who require performance related assistance.

They will also to be responsible for supporting changes in practice based on evidence, research, audit findings and best practice, which improve and impact positively on patient outcomes and key performance indicators

Person Specification


Experience

* oExperience of managing and providing clinical supervision to staff, students and assistants and developing their practice
* oImplementing service improvement plans and participation in change projects.
* oProvision of teaching and learning of staff, students and support worker.
* oEvidence of conducting training sessions in a range of settings and specialties.
* oExperience and confidence working within a high pressured and fast paced environment.
* oExperience in recruitment of staff.
* oMentoring and coaching of staff, students.


Knowledge

* oDiploma or Degree in Physiotherapy
* oHCPC registration
* oSupervision Training or equivalent experience
* oKnowledge of different learning styles
* oPost graduate formal qualification relevant to clinical speciality (clinical supervision/ practice development).
* oPGCE or post graduate educational qualification
* oPhysiotherapy clinical educator course.
* oPreparation for Mentorship course or equivalent.


Skills

* oExcellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences, including chairing of meetings.
* oAbility to work collaboratively with system partners to remove barriers to effective discharge
* oLeadership skills, relationship building skills and influencing skills.
* oTransdisciplinary therapy assessment skills
* oAbility to pass on knowledge & deliver training both internally within profession & externally to other staff groups
* oAbility to manage challenging situations effectively, including interactions with distressed, emotional, or confrontational patients, carers, or staff.
* oStrong digital skills, including confidence in using digital tools and platforms to support communication, learning, service delivery, and/or data management.


Other

* oAble to work with multi disciplinary collegues from a range of back ground, both, internal and external to the organization.
* oLeads by example promoting the highest standards of personal and professional conduct, integrity and probity and to encourage others in being innovative in finding ways of improving clinical practice and the quality of services
* oAble to participate in respiratory on call rota.
* oAbility to work early & late shifts & weekend working.
* Experience in presenting to a wider audience locally or nationally.
