Advanced Endoscopy Fellow

We are inviting applications for the position of advanced luminal endoscopy at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Post holder is expected to be JAG certified (or equivalent) in diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. The post‑holder will be required to provide four flexible service clinical sessions per week. It is envisaged that there will be at least 3 endoscopy lists per week and 1 clinic per week.
This post is designed to provide training opportunities with Dr Pradeep Mundre and Dr Richard Lord in advanced lesion recognition, MDT discussions surrounding complex polyp management, alongside training in therapeutic advanced upper and lower endoscopic mucosal (EMR) and submucosal dissection (ESD), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), full‑thickness resection device (FTRD) and other advanced luminal endoscopic therapies.
This post is available from September 2026 for a period of 12 months.
NB: Candidates who are not independent in OGD and colonoscopies need not apply.
Main duties of the job
The post‑holder will provide five service clinical sessions per week, made up of endoscopy and outpatient clinics, some of which will take place on evenings and weekends.
The post holder will have the opportunity to attend 5 training lists in advanced luminal endoscopic procedures such as complex EMRs, RFAs, dysplasia assessments, chromoendoscopy and exposure to ESD, depending on experience and skills.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will offer support and guidance to junior colleagues.
There will be no commitment to on‑call for Gastroenterology/GIM.
If the post is to be recognised for OOPE, then the appropriate agreement from the Deanery/SAC would need to be obtained.
The post holder will take an active role in audit and clinical governance and will comply with all the Trust infection control policies.
The post holder will participate and cooperate with all Directorate Management arrangements.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience relevant to gastroenterology.
* Applicant knowledge is up to date and is fit to practise safely. Commitment for managing professional development.
* Experience in the specialty beyond ST3 or equivalent.
* Clinical governance / audit experience.
* Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk.
* Out of hours experience relevant to job.
Skills
* Practical skills in relation to the speciality.
* Proven ability to work in different clinical settings.
* Organisation and planning.
* Empathy and sensitivity.
* All applicants must have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
* Interest in teaching and management.
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.

Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
* Evidence of satisfactory progression of speciality training and experience at registrar level (e.g. completion of CCT; satisfactory ARCP outcome) and/or support from TPD for applicants in training.
* Evidence of achievement of MRCP (or equivalent overseas qualification).
