We are the largest and most successful Land business supporting infrastructure development in the UK and Ireland, with more than 300 specialist professional colleagues consisting of land consultants, property specialists, project managers and utility and topographical surveyors.
We are looking to add further expertise to our growing team and seek talented individuals with varying levels of knowledge of Land Referencing.
Joining WSP, you will have access to our Land Academy, which is designed and delivered by our expert Land team. It focuses on providing the best standard training and CPD across the industry and offers support and guidance to achieve your chartership. As a member of our team you will support, manage and own your own projects, provide client advisory, line management, presentation, training and leadership skills, and hone and develop your skills to deliver exciting projects in the UK.
The role can be based in one of WSP’s many offices across the UK or Ireland, with the flexibility of hybrid working between one of these locations and from home.
Core Functions
* Support delivery of land referencing, land access, landowner and stakeholder engagement, optioneering and statutory processes.
* Identify landowners, occupiers and other parties with an interest in land through interpretation and research of land registry information.
* liaise with landowners, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors and clients.
* Work with multi‑disciplinary teams to secure access to land for surveys, by agreement or statutory mechanisms.
* Contribute to WSP Land delivery and success of high‑profile infrastructure projects locally and across the UK and Ireland.
* Provide training and mentoring to junior colleagues and undertake technical assurance of other colleagues’ work; contribute to and participate in our CPD‑accredited Land Academy.
* Maintain commercial awareness including budget, scope, change control and project management activities, and identify project and data security risks.
* Represent the business at Land Consultant level on client‑facing activities.
* Travel to UK and Ireland sites and periodically to WSP’s Global Capability Centre in India.
Qualifications
* Passion for delivering land services and relevant transferable skills.
* Experience working as part of multi‑disciplinary teams delivering high‑quality outputs for clients.
* Effective communication and organisational skills with ability to liaise at all levels.
* Ability to delegate and undertake technical assurance of colleagues’ work.
* Strong drive and enthusiasm to produce high‑quality technical work.
* Travel to various sites/locations is necessary.
* General IT skills, Microsoft Office suite (including Teams), and basic GIS/mapping skills.
* Specific skills in land identification, ownership, and interests; land ownership and management practices; project management in infrastructure projects; stakeholder engagement; knowledge of UK statutory consent requirements and wayleave agreements will be an advantage.
* Potential to grow and align experience with the role and other opportunities within the team.
