The Role
We offer an exciting opportunity to join RWE Renewables’ Community of highly motivated Acoustics Experts. You will be responsible for ensuring value engineering is consistently applied to all stages of our RWE Renewables projects.
You will be initially working on noise impact assessments of wind onshore projects within Project Engineering teams in UK and Ireland, but will soon spend time on other projects such as substations, battery storage and other related acoustic topics within the renewables portfolio in your region.
Reporting to the Team Lead of Site Assessment and Modelling at OPEA/Engineering, you will be working in a team with resource assessment, wind monitoring and site suitability colleagues, to ensure efficiency and close alignment for wind farm layout design and energy calculations. You will have access to and closely work with the RWE Acoustics Community with very experienced, nationally and internationally renowned wind turbine and renewable energy acoustic experts.
Responsibilities
1. Supporting senior staff in the execution and supervision of sound measurements & analysis including acoustic characteristics such as tonality and amplitude modulation (development, operation or construction of Renewables Portfolio)
2. Review of background noise and noise impact analysis for different project phases
3. Acoustic advice and optimisation on wind farm development
4. Acoustic support for planning application process such as noise predictions, third party review, discharging of planning conditions and noise compliance.
5. Supporting senior colleagues in definition of minimum requirements for third party work e.g. noise impact analysis and acoustic measurements to ensure a high quality output. Supporting country specific noise impact analysis for different project phases, acoustic advice and optimisation on wind farm development; Supporting external acoustic contractor management
Requirements
6. Degree in engineering or science (e.g. physics or acoustics), or equivalent education and experience
7. Knowledge of acoustics and some experience in this field
8. Proficiency in MS Office applications
9. Some experience with special acoustic software (e.g. WindPro, CadnaA/Immi/Soundplan etc.) is beneficial
10. Excellent teamwork ability and integrative skills
11. Social competence, high level of engagement and intercultural mindset; flexibility to travel domestic and internationally; driving licence
12. Presentation, communication and report writing skills in English
