The role
Echelon Engineers is recruiting a Factory Manager on behalf of a well-established precision manufacturing company based in Wolverhampton. The client's name is being withheld at this stage, but they supply high-precision components into the aerospace sector, working across plastic, steel, and sheet metal materials using a combination of CNC machinery and skilled manual processes.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced manufacturing professional who can manage day-to-day workshop operations, drive quality and efficiency, and support the development of a skilled production team.
Key Responsibilities
* Take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the workshop, overseeing a team of 20 production staff
* Manage and support a Foreman, who will report directly into this role and assist with shop-floor supervision
* Oversee production scheduling across both CNC machining and manual finishing processes to ensure on-time delivery
* Maintain consistently high standards of quality, ensuring components meet the exacting requirements of aerospace customers
* Monitor and manage workflow across plastic, steel, and sheet metal production lines
* Ensure health and safety standards are upheld throughout the workshop at all times
* Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and streamline processes
* Manage staffing levels, training needs, and performance within the workshop team
* Liaise with other departments (e.g. quality, planning, engineering) to ensure smooth production flow
* Maintain accurate production, quality, and compliance records as required for aerospace industry standards
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience managing a manufacturing or workshop team, ideally within a precision engineering or aerospace supply environment
* Strong working knowledge of both CNC machining and manual production processes
* Experience working with a mix of materials such as plastic, steel, and sheet metal is highly desirable
* Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to manage and develop a Foreman and wider team
* A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to problem-solve on the shop floor
* Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a manufacturing setting
* Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (e.g. AS9100) would be an advantage
Working Pattern
* Full-time, 5 days per week, fully site-based in Wolverhampton
* Standard working hours
