The WellthLab at the University of Southampton is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong background in Computer Science with a specialisation in Human Computer Interaction or related fields to join our team within the School of Electronics and Computer Science.
Responsibilities
* Develop interactive tools/applications for HCI research; test tangible interactions with electronics as appropriate.
* Demonstrate competence in HCI methods including user study methodologies, experimental design, in-lab and in-the-wild deployments, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
* Proficiency in programming (e.g., JavaScript, Python, React for iOS/Android) is important.
* Likely to have experience with physiological sensing (e.g., EEG, breathing, HRV, tactile interfaces) and comfort with Raspberry Pi/Arduino for prototyping.
* Engage with topics related to motor learning, physiology, and neurology as assets.
* Contribute to target publications in venues such as ACM TOCHI, IJHCS, JMIR.
* Collaborate within the WellthLab and with interdisciplinary partners to advance research from concept to real-world impact.
Qualifications
* PhD in HCI, Computer Science, or related field (or nearing completion); successful candidates will be considered for titles as described (the Research Fellow title applied upon PhD completion).
* Experience with user studies, experimental design, and data analysis (qualitative and quantitative).
* Strong programming skills (JavaScript, Python, React, etc.).
* Experience with interactive technologies, and a comfort with prototyping hardware (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino).
