This role offers the opportunity to lead the safe and compliant operation and maintenance of wastewater assets across Hampshire and Isle of Wight operational sites. The Asset Maintenance Field Performance Manager will lead a team, drive innovation, and contribute to a crucial sector.
About the role:
The Asset Maintenance Field Performance Manager is responsible for a critical geographical area within the Wastewater function, including 197 pumping stations and 38 treatment works across locations such as Newport, Ryde, and Cowes. The role involves leading a team of 9 skilled technicians, including 5 apprentices, promoting excellence, safety, and continuous improvement. The focus is on compliance, efficiency, productivity, and high standards in all operational deliverables.
Key responsibilities:
* Build & Lead a high-performing team to meet compliance, service levels, and targets.
* Integrate asset processes into wastewater operations, ensuring consistency, improving data, and shaping future business plans.
* Monitor operational performance and implement actions to resolve issues and optimize asset functionality.
* Build relationships with stakeholders, manage work affecting sites, and oversee safety and asset performance.
* Maintain an understanding of ISO14001 requirements and ensure adherence to Southern Water’s Environmental Management System.
* Coach and develop the team with a focus on succession planning and growth.
* Engage with regulatory bodies, represent the company, and manage events and incidents.
About you:
A foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical principles is essential, while knowledge of wastewater processes is advantageous. A strong understanding of health and safety regulations and commitment to a safe working environment is necessary. The role requires an inspiring leadership style to guide the team to achieve peak performance. The ideal candidate is methodical, self-motivated, and able to manage a remote team. Success in this position requires the ability to thrive under pressure and prioritise demands.
