We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
As ECU Manager you will:
* Be the strategic lead for managing financial investigations, ensuring obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) are fulfilled.
* Provide strong leadership, motivating and developing your team and managing performance and work delivery.
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at a senior level to ensure the Environment Agency’s priorities are recognised by external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes, share lessons learnt, input into changes to technical documentation, and advise other enforcement officers nationwide.
* Contribute to the continuous development of the ECU and the understanding of POCA across the organisation.
The ECU consists of two teams – Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team – comprising Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and engages with enforcement staff and partners across the country, handling serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Experience / Skills Required
You must have exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team, and a good understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
In addition you must have experience of:
* Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
* Communicating effectively, including delivering feedback, managing performance and building relationships with external stakeholders
* Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
* Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
* Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it
Additional Information
This is a hybrid role; you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties is required. Incident response is a central part of our work, and you may have an incident role or provide business continuity support during incidents (an additional payment may apply).
