Yamaha Music School Croydon is seeking experienced and dedicated Singing, Guitar and Drums tutors to join our growing education team.
We are particularly interested in teachers who can confidently offer at least two of the following:
* Vocals
* Guitar (electric and acoustic)
* Drum Kit
This role would suit a teacher looking for a new professional challenge and the opportunity to expand their skillset through the Yamaha Education philosophy. With full Yamaha teacher training and guidance provided, the successful candidate will deliver weekly lessons that are engaging, progressive and inspiring for students of all ages.
The Role
You will teach onsite at YMS Croydon, delivering high-quality group and 1:1 lessons using Yamaha's structured courses and frameworks, including:
* Singing courses for children (7+) and adults (Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Vocal Coaching)
* Guitar courses for children (7+) and adults (Electric and Acoustic)
* Drum Encounters for children (7+) and adults (Drum Kit)
Lessons may include both group and 1:1 teaching, depending on the instrument and timetable. You will work closely with the Education Director to ensure lessons align with Yamaha curriculum guidance while meeting the needs and progression of individual students.
Dates, Times & Location
Hours will be determined by your availability and student demand. Lessons will run between 4:00pm – 8:00pm, Monday to Friday during term time, starting April 2026. There will also be opportunities to deliver school holiday workshops.
There will be opportunities to observe lessons and assist with cover teaching where required before officially starting too.
All lessons will be delivered onsite at our purpose-built music school in Croydon CR0 1TF.
Compulsory Yamaha curriculum training will take place in Milton Keynes on 8th, 9th and 10th April 2026. YMS Croydon will book accommodation for the nights of 8th and 9th April and contribute £20 per day towards meals. Lunch is provided as part of the training days.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience as an instrumental teacher or performer (essential)
* Grade 8 standard (or equivalent) in the disciplines you are teaching
* Strong knowledge of music theory, sight-reading and musicianship
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students effectively
* Patience, creativity and a passion for teaching
* Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles
A degree in Music Performance or Music Education is advantageous but not essential. Previous experience working with children or young adults is desirable.
