Communications Lead
Location: Ellesmere Port, UK
Salary: £19.81 ph PAYE OR £25.37 ph Umbrella
Contract: 3 Months
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday, Agile Working
1. Agile working arrangement with a mix of home working and office attendance
2. Core working hours are flexible between 8am and 6pm
3. Team currently attends the office approximately once every two weeks
4. Travel to alternative office locations and sites may occasionally be required
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Communications Lead to support the delivery of high-quality internal and external communications across a large public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional with strong campaign management, media relations, and stakeholder engagement experience.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering audience-focused communication strategies and campaigns that support organisational priorities, enhance reputation, and engage residents, businesses, partners, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
5. Plan, manage, and deliver internal and external communication campaigns across multiple channels
6. Produce engaging content including press releases, marketing materials, digital communications, internal communications, photography, and copywriting
7. Support and deliver change communication campaigns using best practice communication approaches
8. Monitor, evaluate, and report on campaign performance and communication effectiveness
9. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, senior stakeholders, media contacts, partners, and external organisations
10. Support reputation management through proactive and reactive media handling
11. Contribute to marketing initiatives including sponsorship and advertising opportunities
12. Provide guidance and support to junior team members where required
13. Participate in media and communications rotas, ensuring media enquiries are handled within deadlines
14. Attend meetings and support creation of multimedia content across various locations when required
Requirements:
15. Previous experience working within communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing
16. Strong experience delivering successful communication campaigns and audience-led strategies
17. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality content under tight deadlines
18. Experience managing media relations and stakeholder communications
19. Understanding of digital communication channels and internal communications
20. Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, leadership teams, elected members, and media representatives
21. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
22. Experience within local government or a politically sensitive environment would be advantageous
23. Relevant degree, professional qualification, or equivalent experience preferred
24. Membership of CIPR, CIM, or similar professional body desirable
25. Full UK Driving Licence desirable but not essential
