Overview
Location: Waterlooville. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 7.30am–4.00pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30–1.00pm Friday. Contract: 3 months (September 25 – December 25).
Responsibilities
* Prepare and amend technical drawings, blueprints and schematics from specifications, sketches and red-lines.
* Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) to create parts, assemblies and layout drawings, ensuring correct layers, line weights, dimensions and tolerances.
* Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes; maintain revision history and drawing registers.
* Collaborate with engineers, architects and senior drafters to clarify requirements and ensure drawings meet project, company and industry standards.
* Produce exports (PDF/DXF/STEP as required), basic schedules/BOMs and transmittals for internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintain organised records and naming conventions in line with document-control practices.
* Participate in design reviews and team meetings; contribute ideas to improve quality and turnaround.
* Follow all company policies and procedures; promptly report any security event, concern or perceived weakness.
* Comply with ISO27001 (information security), ISO9001 (quality) and ISO14001 (environment) controls, policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Abilities
Experience with AutoCad or SolidWorks or ReVit in 2D + 3D
Ability to read/interpret technical drawings and follow instructions with high attention to detail.
Teamwork, communication and time-management skills suited to a professional setting.
Desirable
Familiarity with any design software (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD); exposure to Revit or SolidWorks is a plus.
Awareness of drafting conventions and UK/ISO standards (e.g., dimensioning, tolerances, title blocks, revision control).
Experience with file management/PDM practices and Microsoft 365.
Qualifications
GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent) required.
BTEC Level 3 / A-Level in Engineering, Design or related field.
