Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant: Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively in learning. Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support strategies that promote emotional regulation and wellbeing. Build trusting, supportive relationships with students to help them feel safe, valued, and understood. Contribute to creating a nurturing, trauma-informed, and inclusive environment within the classroom. Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support student progress and development. What You’ll Need as an SEMH TA: Background in care, residential support, youth work, or similar (highly advantageous). Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional needs. A calm, patient, and adaptable approach, with the ability to de-escalate and support emotional wellbeing. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply). Why GSL Education?
