Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Azure System Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting our Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based applications and services. The Azure System Engineer will work closely with our development, operations, and security teams to optimize performance, enhance security, and ensure the scalability of our cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and Implement Azure Solutions:Architect, configure, and deploy Azure-based solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
* Cloud Infrastructure Management:Manage and monitor Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and databases.
* Automation and Scripting:Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates, or other tools to streamline the deployment and management of Azure resources.
* Performance Optimization:Analyze and optimize the performance of cloud-based applications and services, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and other issues.
* Security and Compliance:Implement and maintain security best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
* Backup and Disaster Recovery:Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
* Collaboration and Support:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support development and deployment processes. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Azure-related issues.
* Documentation:Maintain comprehensive documentation of Azure configurations, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications:
* Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and/ or equivalent experience.
* Experience:Proven experience as a System Engineer with a focus on Azure cloud services.
* Certifications: Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in Azure cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, and databases.
* Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other relevant tools.
* Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or Ansible is desirable.
* Desired familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
* Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards in a cloud environment.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
* Experience in managing Fortinet firewall is a plus
* Strong experience with inTune in the management of the desktop environment.
* Knowledge of virtual desktop environment, VMWare/Omnissa or Azure Virtual Desktop.
* Soft Skills:
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* This position may require occasional on-call support and the ability to work flexible hours.
Role Location/Hybrid Schedule
This role can be based in our Southampton office. Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
