Job Title: Geo-Environmental Engineer
Location: Southampton
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Responsibilities
* Managing fieldwork activities, including supervising drilling and excavation works and undertaking gas and groundwater monitoring, low‑flow groundwater sampling, and surface water sampling.
* Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice.
* Supporting the project manager in planning new projects, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers, and preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentation.
* Scheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
* Writing factual and interpretative reports.
* Supporting tender managers in preparing fee proposals.
Qualifications and Experience
* BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject (essential).
* Up to 3 years of previous relevant work experience.
* Willingness to spend a significant portion of the working day on site and away from home.
* Rock core logging capabilities are advantageous but not essential.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
* Ability to multi‑task, plan and prioritise workload.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Skilled with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
* Proactive approach to professional development with current (or aspiring) membership of a relevant professional body.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
