About the Role
Our Cardiology team is looking for a cardiologist or cardiologists to provide sabbatical cover from Monday, 14 July to Friday, 10 October.
The key tasks that need to be covered are:
* Diagnostic Invasive Coronary Angiography
* Inpatient Cardiology Ward Service
* General Cardiology Outpatient Clinics
* Echocardiography Reporting
Our diagnostic and procedural facilities include echocardiography, exercise treadmill testing, stress echocardiography, transoesphageal echocardiography, ambulatory cardiac monitoring, CT coronary angiography, cardiac MRI, a diagnostic angiography laboratory and cardiac device implantation. Proficiency in left and right heart catheterisation studies, temporary pacing wires and pericardial drains is important.
We are open to interest in doing all or parts of this role as well as contributing to cardiac device implantation and advanced cardiac imaging.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Cardiology team is comprised of 4 Cardiologists supported by two registrars, a house officer, inpatient cardiology nursing staff including Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse Manager and cardiology procedural nurses, two Nurse Practitioners, several Clinical Nurse Specialists and senior cardiology outpatient nurses, two Cardiac Sonographers and two Cardiac Physiologists.
We also have close ties with allied health services, other specialities within our hospital, as well as our tertiary centre Wellington Regional Hospital, who provide a comprehensive package of care including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

About you
You must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist Cardiologist and must be a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent.
You should have proven experience in the following:
* Cardiological procedures
* Supervision and teaching of junior medical staff
* Working within a multidisciplinary team
* Developing and maintaining effective clinical systems
