An exciting opportunity has arisen for an XP Development Fitter to join the Group Engineering team at JCB — a world‑class, family‑owned manufacturer of earthmoving and construction equipment. What does this role involve day to day?
· Building high‑quality prototype machines, test rigs and electrical harnesses.
· Using detailed Zuken drawings to create wiring harnesses and completing electrical validation testing.
· Diagnosing and repairing prototype and validation machines both on-site and off-site.
· Using a range of tools, including hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment and automated crimping presses.
· Accessing harness drawings, parts and information using Teamcenter.
· Recording accurate build notes, test results and updates using Microsoft Office and other systems.
· Working closely with engineering, quality, logistics and other teams to support ongoing projects.
· Supporting the development of the Harness Lab and assisting with harness installation into vehicles.
· Helping with JCB auction activities when required.
· Maintaining excellent housekeeping and always following Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
· Contributing positively to the overall team atmosphere and project success.
This will be suited to you if …
· Enjoy hands‑on, practical work and take pride in producing high‑quality builds.
· Have experience in machinery service, electrical systems or harness assembly — or transferable technical experience.
· Are confident working with electrical and electronic systems, and want to develop these skills further.
· Like working in an innovative environment where no two days are the same.
· Feel motivated by solving problems and improving the products you’re working on.
· Enjoy collaborating with a wide range of colleagues and sharing ideas.
· Bring a proactive, flexible approach and a positive mindset to your work.
