It’s an exciting time at NFU Mutual. We’ve rolled out Guidewire’s ClaimCenter and BillingCenter, and as part of a company-wide transformation, we’re now implementing PolicyCenter. This strategic move impacts nearly every part of our operations, with long-term benefits. About the role
As a hands-on, forward-thinking Technical Engineering Lead within the NFU Mutual Guidewire Centre of Excellence, you’ll drive excellence across our Digital and PolicyCenter platforms. You’ll shape best practices, mentor talent, and play a vital role in our evolving Guidewire ecosystem, focusing on React and front-end digital services.
In this senior leadership role, you’ll oversee our digital-facing Guidewire platforms, including CustomerEngage and PolicyCenter. You’ll champion high standards in coding, architecture, quality, and performance, working across multiple Scrum teams as a technical expert. You’ll provide hands-on support, ensure consistency, and oversee solutions to align with delivery and strategic goals.
Mentoring engineers at all levels is key. Whether guiding new graduates or advising senior developers, you’ll help them grow and deliver quality work. You’ll also collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly communicating complex ideas to influence decisions and prioritize effectively.
You’ll uphold Guidewire development principles, contributing to scalable, sustainable delivery by ensuring our Guidewire components are optimized for flexibility, reuse, and efficiency.
This role offers hybrid working and office-based work at our Tiddington Head Office, near Stratford-Upon-Avon. We’re open to discussing flexible arrangements to support your best work.
About you
You excel in clear, confident communication, engaging stakeholders at all levels. You build trust quickly and influence decisions through insight and storytelling. You act as a trusted advisor, translating complex ideas into compelling narratives that drive action and impact.
Essential skills and experience
* Extensive development experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, CustomerEngage, and Jutro framework
* Strong technical leadership in an Agile environment
* Ability to influence technical direction and communicate complex ideas clearly
* Experience working across multiple Scrum teams as a mentor and quality gatekeeper
* Solid understanding of Guidewire principles and out-of-the-box functionality
* Guidewire ACE certification or equivalent experience
* Experience with SaaS Guidewire deployments
* Knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD practices
* Experience with Node.js
