At The Bread and Butter Thing, we do things differently.
We are a values-led charity working to reduce food waste while making good, nutritious food more affordable for communities. We partner with farms, manufacturers and retailers to unlock surplus food and move it quickly and efficiently through our warehouse and delivery network to where it is needed most.
We are now looking for a Supply and Logistics Lead to play a critical role in making that happen.
What this role is about
Once food is secured through our supplier relationships, you will own how it moves through the system. You’ll make sure it gets to the right place, at the right time, in the right condition — every time.
Sitting between strategic supply and operational delivery, you will:
* Lead day-to-day supplier coordination
* Manage logistics and 3PL relationships
* Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure smooth goods-in
* Keep a tight grip on costs, performance and compliance
* Make sure nothing is lost through poor planning or avoidable inefficiency
This is a fast-moving, supply-driven environment. When it works well, thousands of households benefit.
What you’ll be responsible for
* Owning inbound logistics and delivery coordination into our warehouses
* Managing operational relationships with suppliers and logistics partners
* Monitoring and improving 3PL performance against clear service standards
* Ensuring CRM and operational data is accurate and up to date
* Reconciling transport and logistics costs and resolving discrepancies
* Working with warehouse teams to align deliveries with capacity
* Maintaining compliance across food safety, labelling and traceability
* Identifying and reducing avoidable waste across the supply chain
* Supporting continuous improvement through data, insight and action
What we’re looking for
You’ll likely have experience in logistics, supply chain or operations ideally within food, FMCG, retail or redistribution.
You’ll also bring:
* Strong coordination and organisational skills
* Experience working with third-party logistics providers
* Confidence managing suppliers and holding partners to account
* A detail-focused, problem-solving mindset
* The ability to stay calm and make decisions in a very fast-moving and complex environment
* Good understanding of food handling, compliance and operational processes
Why join us?
We’re not a traditional logistics operation.
Everything we do is about making sure good food is used where it matters most. You’ll be part of a team that cares deeply about getting it right for our members, our partners and the communities we serve.
