Description
The Senior BI Developer plays a strategic role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to support the data-driven needs of DACB. This includes leading the creation of Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to define reporting strategies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in BI architecture, data modelling, and performance optimization, with strong experience in SQL, SSRS, SSIS, and advanced Power BI capabilities. Familiarity with Azure data platforms, MS Purview, and modern data engineering practices is essential. Experience in mentoring junior developers and driving BI best practices is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities
* Power BI Development: Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring scalability and performance for enterprise‑level datasets.
* Data Modelling: Create optimized data models (star schema, snowflake) and implement best practices for DAX and Power Query.
* Paginated Reporting: Manage complex paginated reports using SSRS and Power BI Report Builder.
* T‑SQL Development: Write and optimize complex T‑SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
* ETL & Integration: Develop and maintain SSIS workflows and contribute to data pipeline design for efficient data movement.
* Data Migration: Lead migration projects from SSRS to Power BI, ensuring minimal disruption and improved functionality.
* Architecture & Strategy: Contribute to BI architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational data strategy and governance.
* Collaboration: Partner with business leaders, IT, and other departments to define BI requirements and deliver strategic insights.
* Data Governance: Implement and enforce data governance practices using tools like MS Purview.
* Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior BI developers, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
* Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for BI solutions, including data models, architecture diagrams, and deployment processes.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on BI trends and recommend innovative solutions to enhance reporting capabilities
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Advanced BI Development: Extensive experience in Power BI, including DAX optimization, Power Query (M), and performance tuning.
* Data Modelling: Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and enterprise BI architecture.
* SQL Mastery: Expert‑level T‑SQL skills for complex query development and optimization.
* ETL & Integration: Proficiency in SSIS and familiarity with modern data integration tools.
* Cloud Platforms: Hands‑on experience with Azure data services (Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks) and MS Purview.
* CI/CD & Deployment: Knowledge of version control and automated deployment practices for BI solutions.
* Industry Knowledge: Understanding of legal terminology and processes is beneficial but not required.
