Job Title: Family Support Practitioner
Fixed term for 1 year in the first instance.
Employer: Home-Start Telford & Wrekin, Meeting Point House, Southwater Square, Telford, TF3 4HS
Hours: 20 per week
Worked flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation. The ability to work extra hours, if required, is desirable.
Responsible to: Family Support Co-ordinator
Salary: £12.45 per hour

Home-Start is a leading family support charity, committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under the age of 5. Volunteers offer regular support to families in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. We also run a number of family support groups. We are seeking an experienced, flexible person with a warm, friendly personality who is a good communicator, to work with the Home-Start Telford & Wrekin team to support families in the Telford & Wrekin area.
Overview
The successful candidate will work to support families in the Telford & Wrekin area as part of the Home-Start Telford & Wrekin team.
Responsibilities
* Provide family support to families in their own homes to help prevent family crisis and breakdown.
* Work with the Home-Start Telford & Wrekin team to support families in the local area.
Qualifications
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of child development through experience of parenting or equivalent
* Understanding of adversities children and families may face
* Experience of working directly with vulnerable families
* Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Experience/knowledge of local community services
* Working knowledge of IT, including Word, email, mobile phone apps, and databases
* The ability to work on their own initiative in a challenging environment
* A relevant level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Must hold a valid driving licence and have use of their own car (expenses paid)
