About the team you’ll be part of
This role sits within Ofcom’s People and Culture (P&C) team. The People and Culture team is here to support colleagues through their journey at Ofcom – from recruiting them to their role, to the moment they head to pastures new. The P&C team also support the organisation at a strategic level, ensuring we have the right capability and ways of working in place to deliver on our objectives for our consumers and leading transformation and cultural change to support an increasing regulatory remit.
The Reward team sits within the P&C team, as a recently formed Centre of Expertise, covering Compensation, Recognition, Benefits and Wellbeing. The team has an ambitious agenda for the coming years, as it aims to develop a Total Reward ethos in the organisation, supported by integrated strategies for components of the package. The team delivers substantial projects and core work, with a continuous improvement mindset and agility.
The purpose and scope of the role
The Compensation & Recognition Analyst reports to the Head of Reward. This role coordinates the delivery of a consistent, transparent, and competitive Compensation and Recognition provision to colleagues to ensure that Ofcom can attract and retain the talent it needs to deliver its strategy.
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Work with the Compensation and Recognition Manager to design and develop the annual pay and bonus review model recommendations and roll out to Senior stakeholders and the wider organisation
2. Participate in the development and design of new programmes/policies to meet business objectives
3. Act as reward business partner, providing guidance and recommending the best course of action to the People Business Partners (PBPs) and wider People and Culture team.
4. Create and maintain close relationships with Payroll, Finance, People Operations, Workday and other relevant teams to ensure Reward information is accurate and relevant
5. Coordinate Ofcom’s participation into salary surveys and ensure they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
6. Research and gather internal and external salary data providing salary benchmarks and package recommendations to the People Business Partner and Recruitment teams, in line with the Reward principles and policies
7. Manage the job levelling process including job evaluation, communication and maintenance of outcomes
8. Play a key role in the conduction of the Equal Pay Audit and Pay Gap reporting
9. Provide day-to-day support for all employee Compensation & Recognition matters
10. Provide ongoing support to all the recognition activities, such as management of the colleague recognition system, recognition reporting and gift voucher purchases and management.
11. Develop and help with the preparation of internal communications and materials required to support compensation projects and processes, for example, briefing materials for line managers, Ofcom’s intranet and general reward guidance and communication
12. Contribute to internal governance papers, including Ofcom’s People Committee
13. Ensure that Ofcom’s HRIS (Workday) is up to date with relevant data such as job profiles, salaries and bonuses and maintain the job catalogue
The skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need for success
Essential Skills:
14. Experience of an annual reward cycle and building pay models.
15. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office package, particularly Excel - Ability to use complex formulas and functions such as IF, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, and array formulas to manipulate and analyse large datasets. Expertise in creating and modifying Pivot Tables for data summarisation, trend analysis, and reporting.
16. In-depth experience of all aspects of job analysis and pricing, including survey analysis
17. Experience in data analysis and manipulating large volumes of data
18. Extensive knowledge of Willis Towers Watson (WTW) Job Evaluation and benchmarking methodologies
19. Current knowledge of best practice in Reward, with ideally a good understanding of Recognition fundamentals
20. Experience of advising colleagues on reward queries
21. Evaluating Problems: Quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills
22. High level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail
23. Flexible, proactive approach and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
24. Generating Insights - Identify and solve issues by using well-thought-out strategies. Consider different angles and potential solutions to resolve concerns.
