Operations and Finance Lead
The person who keeps things flowing and moving
We believe brilliance doesn’t just happen. It’s sparked.
By people who notice the details.
Who create calm in the churn. Who quietly care.
And just make everything work better.
You’re that kind of person.
As our Operations and Finance Lead you’re the unseen force that makes things flow smoothly. Financially, operationally, administratively. You create clarity in the noise. You help others deliver their best by taking care of the systems, the spreadsheets, the unsung heroes of process. You make numbers meaningful and deadlines doable.
You don’t just keep the lights on. You light the way forward.
And we’ll soon wonder how we ever managed without you.
What’s the spark we need from you?
We’re looking for someone who gets a kick out of making things work better. Who loves accuracy, craves efficiency and believes that clear processes are the quiet superpower behind exceptional outcomes.
Someone who’s organised yet flexible.
Meticulous yet not precious.
Systems-savvy and human first.
Someone who can hold the financial nuts and bolts with confidence - and keep people on track without ever losing the plot.
Here’s what you’ll be making count:
Owning the finance flow:
* Invoicing, expenses, contract payments and the likes
* Seamlessly keep Xero sweet and up-to-date
* Ensure supplier payments are moving on time
* Track debtors and keep an eye on cashflow
* Assist with payroll, pensions, VAT returns
* Bookkeeping and reconciliation tasks
* Support our accountants on year-end wrap-ups and such
Keeping systems in sync:
* Keep operational and management dashboards up-to date
* Proactive reporting of insights and recommendations
* Own the input to forecasting and reporting tools
* Maintain cashflow and budget data with clarity
Staying on top of compliance:
* Answer queries on systems and subscriptions
* Manage supplier contracts, NDAs and insurance
* Keeping us legally compliant in all manners
* Data integrity and compliance
In short - ensure nothing vital slips through the cracks, that we’re always above board, safe and sound. And being the best we can be.
What makes you brilliant for this?
* You notice what others miss - and fix it before anyone’s even noticed
* You love a tidy spreadsheet (you and VLOOKUP are mates)
* You’re confident with finance data and love expanding your knowledge and understanding
* You’re a natural collaborator who keeps things moving
* You make systems sing (Xero, Power BI, Google Sheets – you’re in your element)
* Your naturally curious and love exploring ways to improve
* You say what matters, not just what’s easy
* You bring a positive can-do attitude every single day
* You love aspiring to the highest standards – and holding others accountable to them
* You know your self-limiting beliefs and are actively working on them
* You regularly assess your performance and use it to sharpen your impact
* You actively seek out development and growth opportunities
* You feel proud to be contributing to a team that doesn’t settle for good enough
* Bottom line you get sh*t done, without fuss or fanfare
More than a job — it’s a movement
At H&H, we’re not just delivering internal comms. We’re reshaping how people experience work. That means every person in the H&H team plays a part in sparking something better.
If you’re with us, you’ll be living our mantra every day:
* Be bold – Speak up, improve, experiment, explore - challenge the “way it’s always been”
* Be curious – Ask ‘what if’, learn, expand, tweak, test
* Make it count – Focus on what matters, act with intent, achieve outstanding results
You won’t just help us tick over. You’ll be helping us take off and stay in the air.
This is a hybrid role based in East Yorkshire and is a great fit for someone living near our Hesslewood offices near Hull. We require team members to be in the office at least twice a week—not just to soak up the beautiful 18th-century setting (yes, there really are peacocks), but because being here in person just makes everything sweeter and smoother.
What next?
If this sounds like your kind of next challenge — structured, purposeful, real — then we’d love to hear from you. Send your CV and a note that tells us not just what you’ve done, but why it matters to you, to helen.t@handhcomms.co.uk.
PS
If you believe work can feel better,
you’re already one of us.
If you speak up, show up, shake things up - you’re already doing it.
You don’t need permission to start change.
Just make it matter. Make it human.
Make it brilliant.
Come join us – and you’ll incite brilliance.
