Estimator - Groundworks / Demolition Location: Ipswich Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 Package Employment Type: Permanent Start Date: ASAP / Negotiable Role Summary Strong Group are recruiting for an experienced Estimator with a solid background in groundworks and/or demolition projects. This is a key commercial role responsible for preparing accurate, competitive tenders across a range of civils, enabling and demolition schemes. The position is based in Ipswich and offers genuine long-term progression within a growing and well-established contractor. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for groundworks and demolition projects Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation Produce accurate take-offs and BOQs Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations Identify value engineering opportunities Assess risk and commercial viability of tenders Liaise with operational and commercial teams during bid stages Support handover to project delivery teams upon award Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where required Requirements Proven experience as an Estimator within groundworks or demolition Strong understanding of civil engineering packages, enabling works and site preparation Experience pricing earthworks, drainage, foundations, demolition packages, bulk excavation etc. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong commercial awareness Experience using estimating software (e.g. Conquest, Causeway, Excel-based systems) Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills Qualifications Relevant construction or civil engineering qualification preferred HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar (desirable) Full UK Driving Licence Skills & Attributes Commercially astute Detail-driven and methodical Strong communication skills Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously Confident working independently and within a team Package & Benefits Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 (DOE) Company benefits package Pension Career progression opportunities Stable pipeline of projects Location & Travel Based in Ipswich Office-based role with occasional site visits
