Workshop Mechanic role at Serco
Twickenham, TW2 7SW • 40 hours per week • Salary up to £21.19 per hour plus benefits including 25 days annual leave, matched pension and life insurance.
Serco provides a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of local authorities. We design, implement, and manage waste and recycling services, with capability spanning collection, treatment, processing, and disposal. A position has become available for an HGV Mechanic within the workshop department at our Twickenham depot. You will work in a friendly and professional team, providing essential maintenance within a commercial vehicle workshop environment.
At Serco we are committed to ongoing development and progression of our mechanic teams with outstanding training and opportunities to undertake additional qualifications, including OEM training, HGV Driver training and Irtec accreditation.
About You
First and foremost, you’ll need to be an experienced and fully qualified mechanic — preferably with HGV mechanic experience or be willing to undertake additional training to upskill. You should have electrical and hydraulic fault-finding experience, the ability to carry out general chassis service work, and where possible, full industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair). You should have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to undertake all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, and general welding skills would be advantageous.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Electrical fault-finding experience
* Hydraulic repair experience
* Full industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair)
* Good communication skills
* Ability to undertake all aspects of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair
Desirable
* Experience in maintenance of fleet vehicles
* LGV Licence
* Chassis work
* Good written skills (to complete inspection/defect paperwork)
