Sibelco Newhouse is a busy site operating 24/7 and is dedicated to the processing of recycled glass primarily for the glass remelt industries.
The Operations Manager organizes, optimizes and continuously improves operational, production and maintenance activities, taking into account Sibelco's values and policies.
The Operations Manager must manage the operational organization in order to maintain and develop the processing plant and people to ensure:
1. A Zero Accident approach, operational safety and the preservation of the health of safety employees.
2. Production and shipping compliance for full and better customer satisfaction.
3. Improved cost competitive position (reduced costs, increased site performance, better value products, better processes, product management and production scheduling).
4. The highest industry standard in terms of process, quality, environment, compliance with legal obligations, health and safety.
5. Sustainability, preservation of mining and processing activities (resources, production tools, etc.)
6. The development of talents, skills and career development of staff.
7. The preservation of the social climate and the motivation of the staff.
8. Implementation of operational excellence principles and tools.
Job Description:
9. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, in accordance with the legislation and company policy.
10. Manage and direct plant and operations and production functions, as well as manage and direct maintenance operations.
11. Ensure the quality and regulatory compliance of all products manufactured and shipped by the plant while meeting customer needs and expectations.
12. Manage operational organisation within the conditions of financial budgets and operational indicators.
13. Identify and initiate the principles and techniques of Lean Management and continuous improvement to improve quality, reduce waste, reduce costs and improve productivity.
14. Identifies and plans the physical condition of production equipment and facilities through regular maintenance and capital intervention.
15. Complements budget plans and cost control activities and reports.
16. Manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets for production and maintenance.
17. Implement, maintain and improve with its team high-performance production processes.
18. Lead, supervise and/or assist in the recruitment, training, development of staff and optimal functioning of the site(s).
19. Develop supervisors and operators by coaching, training, properly delegating responsibilities and focusing on achieving objectives for assigned responsibilities.
20. Audits, resolves problems, improves plant operations, and facilitates investigation and correction of actions associated with quality and safety events. Train supervisors and senior operators in these same requirements.
The profile sought:
21. Degree based education or equivalent through experience of working at a managerial level within a minerals or similar production environment.
22. An good understanding of processing equipment. Maintenance or strong technical skills would be advantageous.
23. Broad and in-depth knowledge of the products and production processes within most transformation industries (mineral, chemical, food, cement, etc.).
24. Inquisitively minded who can assess problems and reason a safe, efficient and effective solution.
25. Experience of managing and developing a team of functional specialists in order to maximise the potential of individuals, teams and the site.
26. An ability to work at varying levels within an organisation from providing visible leadership within the shop floor to provision of senior management communications. The role will also expose the successful candidate to external stakeholders, regulatory authorities, customers and suppliers.
27. Experience of managing to budgets (OPEX & CAPEX), able to provide accurate forecasting and experience of working within an ERP environment (SAP would be advantageous)
28. Fluent in English language (oral & written).
