Location: Hull Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £39,000 - £41,000 + Benefits Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:15pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Plant Engineer, Field Service Engineer, HGV Technician, Crane Engineer or Heavy Plant Engineer looking for a more stable and rewarding career move? This is an excellent opportunity to step away from the tools and move into a full-time permanent Mechanical Engineering Instructor role in Hull. You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply. If you have strong hands-on mechanical engineering experience and enjoy helping others learn, full support will be provided to help you develop into an instructor role. You will help learners understand how engineering works in the real world, covering safe workshop practice, mechanical maintenance, hand tools, machining, hydraulics, pneumatics and fault finding. The role will involve: Teaching practical mechanical engineering skills Demonstrating safe use of hand tools and workshop equipment Supporting learners with planned and reactive maintenance principles Explaining mechanical fault finding and repair methods Demonstrating lathe, milling and workshop-based skills Supporting learners with hydraulics and pneumatics Helping apprentices build confidence, discipline and safe working habits Giving clear guidance, feedback and support Bringing real examples from industry into the workshop Travelling between training sites and employer sites when required We are looking for This role would suit an experienced hands-on mechanical professional from backgrounds such as: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Maintenance Engineer Mechanical Engineer Mechanical Fitter Mechanical Technician Workshop Engineer Field Service Engineer Plant Engineer Heavy Plant Engineer HGV Technician Commercial Vehicle Technician Crane Engineer Marine Engineer Process Technician Engineering Supervisor Shift Team Leader with strong mechanical experience Experience from manufacturing, process plant, heavy engineering, ports, marine, cranes, commercial vehicles, industrial maintenance, plant, mechanical fitting or workshop environments would be highly relevant. Experience required We are looking for experience in some or all of the following: Mechanical planned and reactive maintenance Mechanical fault finding, repair and problem solving Hydraulics and/or pneumatics Safe use of hand tools and workshop equipment Lathe and/or milling machine operation Workshop practice, fitting, machining or mechanical assembly Health and safety practices and procedures Coaching, mentoring, supervising or supporting less experienced colleagues Essential requirements Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent Strong practical mechanical engineering experience Good communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer confidence Full UK driving licence Access to your own vehicle, as public transport is not practical for site travel Right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship No teaching qualification is required to apply.
