AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems and are looking for talented people to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at low cost, within an inclusive culture that empowers you to own ideas to completion.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
* Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any one of the region’s sites.
* Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
* Be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.
* Act as an escalation point for junior technicians and execute small projects, planning with your manager for larger local projects.
Basic Qualifications
* Data Centres are 24/7 environments; willingness to work rotating shifts (day/night) and weekends.
* Willingness to wear a pager for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations.
* 3+ years of computer hardware experience.
* 3+ years of computer networking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate’s degree or higher in an IT-related field or equivalent professional/military experience; networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
* Experience with CISCO, Juniper, and other commodity networking devices; prior data centre experience (racking & stacking, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
* Valid driver’s license and own vehicle; ability to pass driving record check to operate company vehicles; travel between sites may occur.
